Content Warnings (CWs) are a feature of Mastodon that enable you to hide the body of a “toot” (post) behind a line of text. The intended use of this feature is to provide a way to discuss sensitive and/or potentially harmful topics without causing duress or harm to anyone who might stumble upon it, though it may be used for many other things.
Images can be marked as sensitive; this is a feature which hides an image until a warning banner is clicked. Images may be marked as sensitive separately from Content Warnings, though using a Content Warning automatically marks the toot’s images as sensitive.
Clearly communicated and accurately labeled content warnings and sensitive image settings are required when having public conversations involving any of the following topics or content:
If you are being harassed by a member of Computerfox.xyz, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the Computerfox.xyz administrators and moderation team using the Report User/Toot feature. If the person who is harassing you is on the team, they will recuse themselves from handling your incident. We will respond as promptly as we can.
This code of conduct applies to Computerfox.xyz spaces, but if you are being harassed by a member of Computerfox.xyz outside our spaces, we still want to know about it. We will take all good-faith reports of harassment by Computerfox.xyz members, especially Computerfox.xyz’s administrators and moderation team, seriously. This includes harassment outside our spaces and harassment that took place at any point in time. The abuse team reserves the right to exclude people from Computerfox.xyz based on their past behavior, including behavior outside Computerfox.xyz spaces and behavior towards people who are not in Computerfox.xyz.
In order to protect volunteers from abuse and burnout, we reserve the right to reject any report we believe to have been made in bad faith. Reports intended to silence legitimate criticism may be deleted without response.
We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about whom we’ve received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them, if we believe that doing so will increase the safety of Computerfox.xyz members or the general public. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative consent.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, Computerfox.xyz administrators and moderation team may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from all Computerfox.xyz spaces and identification of the participant as a harasser to other Computerfox.xyz members or the general public.
